Hydraulic uncoiler, also widely called hydraulic decoiler, is the primary feeding equipment for continuous metal coil processing lines. It unwinds steel, galvanized, aluminum, stainless steel and prepainted coils steadily and automatically, supplying flat strip material to roll forming machines, slitter lines, stamping presses and straightener-feeder combinations. Compared with manual or motorized uncoilers, hydraulic type delivers stronger clamping force, smoother running and safer heavy-coil handling for high-volume metal fabrication workshops.
What is a Hydraulic Uncoiler?
A hydraulic uncoiler adopts a hydraulic power unit to drive mandrel expansion, coil rotation and optional coil car lifting. After the metal coil is transported onto the mandrel, the hydraulic segments expand radially to lock the coil inner core tightly and evenly. It synchronizes speed with downstream forming equipment via sensor tracking, maintains constant material tension and avoids slipping, loose coils or surface scratches during unwinding.
Standard configurations include cantilever single-head structure, hydraulic station, frequency conversion motor, tension brake system, coil loading car and electric control box. Double-head hydraulic uncoiler is optional for non-stop coil change to cut production downtime.
