Many customers focus solely on the central 成型机 when selecting equipment, assuming that high roller pressing speed automatically makes it a superior unit. However, in actual production, a cable tray manufacturing line functions like a complete barrel—the shortest board determines the final output yield.
During our post-sales visits, we observed that while the main units in many factories are capable of traveling at 15 meters per minute, their actual average speed is only 8 meters per minute. The issue often lies not with the main unit itself, but rather in these three frequently overlooked components:
Front-end lag: Material feeding and leveling
High production capacity necessitates large coils of material. If your annual output exceeds 2,000 tons and you still use the basic “cantilever-type” unloading rack, operators must shut down the machine every one to two hours to replace coils, thread belts, and align them.
Solution: The hydraulic automatic unloading rack is a standard component for high-capacity production lines. It can handle heavy steel coils weighing over 6 tons and enables tension-controlled unloading to prevent coil unwinding and surface scratches. When paired with an automatic hydraulic tensioning system, coil changeover time can be reduced from half an hour to just minutes. Additionally, the power rating of the leveling machine must not be overlooked; if the leveling roller material is too soft, coil deviation when handling high-strength steel plates will directly result in inaccurate cutting dimensions downstream, leading to significant waste.
End bottleneck: the “last mile” after the connection has been severed
This is the most easily overlooked “invisible killer.” The production line can produce over ten meters per minute, but if it is shut down, two workers would have to laboriously carry dozens of kilograms of cable trays around the floor while gasping for breath, and then manually stack them—making the line incapable of achieving its full capacity.
Solution: Implement an automated palletizer (material receiving station). For ladder-type or large-format slot-type cable trays, manual handling is not only slow but also poses safety risks. An integrated system for automatic material intake, flipping, and palletizing enables neatly stacked finished products that can be directly transported by forklifts. This not only frees up two manual workers at the backend but, more importantly, allows the main unit to operate continuously without interruption, eliminating frequent slowdowns caused by insufficient backend processing capacity.
Power and Foundation: The Invisible Threshold
Power configuration:
High-speed cable tray forming machines are typically equipped with high-power main motors (15 kW–over 30 kW), along with hydraulic stations, stamping presses, and servo systems, resulting in a total power consumption of up to 50 kW or more. Before purchasing the equipment, it is essential to verify the capacity of the factory’s transformer. If a high-speed machine is purchased to save costs only to experience immediate tripping upon startup, this represents the greatest loss.
Ground foundation:
Models operating at speeds exceeding 15 meters per minute experience significant vibration during operation. If the factory floor is merely ordinary concrete, prolonged use may cause equipment displacement, leading to reduced accuracy. It is recommended to cast a reinforced concrete foundation with a minimum thickness of 30 cm at the installation site and pre-install anchor bolts.
In summary:
When selecting equipment, ensure the manufacturer provides a complete line layout diagram rather than just images of the main unit. Only when material feeding is smooth, the main unit operates at high speed, and material handling requires minimal effort can your full production capacity be realized.
